Removing label on closed JIRA task/issue

I have a JIRA task/issue that is in complete status. After the task has been updated as complete, I can't make edits and I need to remove a label on the completed task. Anyone know how to? Thank you.

What type of project is it? JSM? JSW? Team-managed? Company-managed? Do you use ScriptRunner (and/or Behaviours)? 

First, check this previous post and the answer from Nic - I suspect it is something similar.
