Jira 8.16

For the workaround you have specified in bug Jira Server and Data CenterJRASERVER-72278
Deleting custom field gives "Data Center License Required' error

Workaround instructions

In order to pass Data Center license check, creating a cluster.properties file with a jira.node.id and jira.shared.home resolved the issue. Because of the new shared home folder, Jira software installation was needed.

Question does that jira.shared.home directory have to exist in order for this workaround to work

Hi @Nannette Mori ,

Yes, the jira.shared.home directory specified in cluster.properties needs to exist, and the jira user needs read/write access to the directory.

It is worth noting that the bug that causes this issue, and the inability to delete the custom field, was patched in 8.16.1 (released on April 20). If you are able to do the point upgrade on your single-node Jira Data Center instance, you will be able to take advantage of the bug fix without having to implement the workaround.

Cheers,
