Project read-only permissions

Hello everyone,

Can we give read-only permission in a project?

I want it to see the tickets in the project but not be able to process it.

I only want read-onyl authorization.

Hi @Barış Özer ,

If you are in company managed project, then jira Administrator can add a group to only  "Browse Projects" permission of the project. This will grant users who are part of the group only RO access to tickets. 

If you are in team managed project, project admin can add required users into Viewer role under project settings --> Access

I am the Jira Admin in my company.

I would like to give read-only authorization to a software developer friend in a DevOps project.

I couldn't see access under project settings?

Can you screenshot and explain more easily?

For now I had to give Browse Project permission to my friend. But I need to give it read-only.

Hi @Barış Özer ,

From the screenshot you shared, I believe you are in company managed project. Please follow below steps to add users to Read only access.

1. Go to main settings --> system --> Roles (direct url will be https://<base URL>/secure/project/ViewProjectRoles.jspa)
2. Add a role. Name it like Read only
3. Go to your project settings --> Permissions --> Actions --> Edit permissions
   
   
   
4. Add Project role "Read Only" against "Browse Projects" permission. 
5. Now go to Project settings --> People --> Ad people.
   Add the required user to Read Only role. 
   

Please note: Browse project is the read only permission in Jira.
