Pasting in a link containing double dashes gets replaced with a single em

When pasting in a link containing double dashes in a Jira ticket visual editing field, they get replace with an em dash, resulting in a bad link.

E.g.

http://my.exam--ple.com/

becomes

http://my.exam–ple.com/

Note: the replacement happens after pressing space/enter.

If you add the link using the link tool in the editor does that fix the issue?
