Jira & Github integration

Shubham Sinha February 4, 2021

Hi, Could you please advise how to integrate Jira with Github? And, what are the best practises?

Kindly advise from the point of view of pure business people trying to better manage the development work with freelancers.

Thanks.

Hi Shubham,

We use this free app in the Atlassian Marketplace to link our organization's repositories with Jira.

Hi John,

Is there anyway to integrate while using GitHub organization permissions lower than organization Admin permissions?

Why in fact does it requires such strong permissions?

Hi @Shubham Sinha ,

This is Majid @ Exalate.
In order to fully synchronize your Jira tickets to Github issues bidirectionally, you can utilize an an integration app such as Exalate. The app provides you fully customizable synchronization which can be set up in minutes.

Please feel free to book a demo if you would like to see the product in action.

Thanks

Majid

Hi there! Hope you have found a solution to your question. I just want to propose an alternative solution to the tool you might be currently using, in case you want to try something different. It's a no-code integration platform called ZigiOps, quite flexible (allows for customization to fit different use cases) and easy to use. Feel free to take a look at it and book a demo, in case you want to see it in action.

Getint.io April 30, 2021

Hi Shubham,

we have recently developed an app called getint.io, to address this particular need - to help you with the integration between Jira and GitHub (including a migration feature for those, who may need it).

In the case of integrating business with developers, you need to have the power to specify what exactly is integrated, and what is not. Let's say, by adding a particular label. You also need to sync statuses, in both directions.

With this app, you can connect your one Jira project to multiple GitHubs.

Here is the link to the Marketplace:  https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1223933/getint-jira-github-sync-integration?hosting=server&tab=overview

And to the website, if you'd like to read more https://getint.io/

Hope it helps,

Jacek

Jacek, do you have any experience with GitHub Actions integration too? Can a CI/CD pipeline post easily success or failure as a new JIRA ticket?

Hi @Martin Lhotak

Thanks for your question. Yes, we do have some experience here. We plan to release this feature in the next version of the app in about a week.

Can you please send me an email at jacek@getint.io? I'll update you with the details.
