Jira Reports (Velocity Chart) after changing estimation

kgraeter
June 22, 2022

Hi Community,

my Customer reported their Storys and Sprints based on Estimated Effort. They recently changed to Story Points Estimation and bulk changed the Issues from old Sprints therefore. This means Storys from closed Sprints have a the appropriate of Story points associated after closure.

But creating reports like the Velocity Chart won't display and report on the closed sprints using story points.

Does the reports really extract the data available when the sprint started? Is there any way to change reporting and using the current estimation applied?

Thanks in advance and cheers,

Kerstin

Correct, the sprint has to gather the starting point of a sprint when you create the sprint.  If you change estimation part way through, it's got no way of calculating anything.

And for old sprints, they were completed using a different estimation statistic, so it can't report on them because it didn't use the current statistic for  them.
