Issue clone

Nipun Sharma August 20, 2019

Hello community. Is there any way that a single issue from a Project A with JIRA number XXX-2 is visible in a second Project B with the same number? Can we do this for a specific user? Showing his/her projects in other boards without changing the JIRA number?

Many thanks.

Best Regards,

Nipun

Hi Nipun - Welcome to the Community!

An issue can only be linked to a single project. Therefore, the issue key can only have the prefix for of the projects.

But yes, you can have both issues for both projects on the same board. And even further limit it by user if you want.

The JQL filter would look something like: project in (ABC, 123) and Assignee = john.smith

I hope that helps!

Every board is configured with a JQL to display issues based on the JQL result. You can modify the JQL such that it shows issues from both the projects. In that case, the same single board will show issues from Project A as well as Project B.

But to answer your other question, every project has a project key and issues under that project have project key as the prefix. So you cannot have same issue key under different projects. They are unique to your entire JIRA instance.
