Issue Navigator Search - Epic name and Link are empty

Oren Tayar December 20, 2021

It used to work.

But since a couple of weeks already both EPIC link and EPIC name seem empty. Why is that or what can I do?

Hi Oren,

Can you provide some more details? What type of project is this - team-managed? company-managed? Jira work management?

Are these existing issues or new issues?

You would not have Epic Name and Epic Link on the same issue. Epic Name is for Epics only and it would not appear on say, stories or tasks. Conversely, Epic Link would not appear on Epics but would appear on the other standard issue types.

If those fields are visible in the screen you're using but appear empty, then they are empty - try editing those fields (add a test name, and a link to an epic) to confirm.

Epic name is the 'short' version of whatever the epic is for. Different than the summary (but often people set them as the same thing), and Epic link specifically affects tickets like bugs. tasks, stories (standard issue types) that can live 'inside' epics.  If there isn't a Epic link then those tickets are not 'in' an epic at the moment.

Some backlogs allow you drag and drop other tickets into epics, others will make you manually add the link (just the AB-123 part) in that field to denote that the ticket is inside an epic,
