Is there any non-scripting answer to close a story automatically when its sub-tasks are closed?

I am trying to automate certain steps in the JIRA workflow, e.g. when all the subtasks are closed, close the parent story, or when a subtask is reopened, then re-open the parent story, or zero out remaining hours when closing a subtask, etc.

I have been able to block the manual closing of a story when subtasks are not closed using a condition on a workflow, but don't know how to effect closing story automatically when the subtasks are closed.

Trying to use the Post-Functions but not successful. Any ideas?

Update on Transition for JIRA has support for Transitioning issues based on JQL query. However, this support is not available for Cloud at this time - see CW-18.
