Is there a way to import insights into Product Discovery from data sheet export from Product Board?

Jade Vincent April 3, 2023

We are looking to migrate from Product Board and want to import multiple insights- which we can then align to features within Product Dscovery.

We can see a way to import discovery items - but not directly import into insights - are you able to help or offer any help or advice?

@Riley Venable this response does not work. As the other folks here mentioned, ideas are not insights. I'd like to use Jira Product Discovery, but manually copying and pasting between Productboard and Product Discovery for all of our insights is too overwhelming. Could you find out if there's a plan to better map fields into Jira Product Discovery to include insights?

Yes, I can help with that! To import multiple insights from Product Board into Product Discovery, you can follow these steps:

1. First, you need to export the insights from Product Board. You can usually do this by going to the insights section and selecting the insights you want to export. Check if there is an option to export or download your insights to a CSV file.

2. Once you have your CSV file with the exported insights, you can use it as a template to import the insights into Product Discovery. Open the CSV file using a spreadsheet tool like Excel or Google Sheets.

3. Make sure the headers in the CSV file match the fields in Product Discovery.

4. Modify the data in the CSV file to match the data you want to import into Product Discovery. Make sure to fill out all required fields.

5. Save the modified CSV file.

6. In Product Discovery, go to Filters > Advanced Issue search > () > Import issues from CSV.

7. Choose the CSV file you want to import and click Next.

8. Now, you need to follow the wizard and map the fields from your CSV file to the fields in Product Discovery.

9. Once you have mapped the fields, click on the Finish button to import the insights. After the import is completed, you should be able to see the imported insights in your Product Discovery project. Then, you can align these insights to features within Product Discovery as needed.

@Riley Venable  I have read your response, but I'm unsure if it answers the question fully. The "CSV" upload is for issues, but notes/ insights are not issues. Can they also be used to upload insights and link them to issues? Or create options for fields in bulk?

Thanks, but the response simply adds the insight as an idea- where you would have many insights associated to an idea - and the tranference to an insight from an idea would need lots of copy and pasting in Jira Product Discovery .
