Is it possible to "group by" a custom field (ideally dropdown) in a next-gen project?

This would allow me to emulate swimlanes based on my own delimiter.

Hello,

It is not possible. You can only group by Epic or Assignee:

Are there any updates here? Is this in progress at all?

This is a huge value-add which is missing currently from the next-gen project. I have provided feedback on this as well via the link, but wanted to raise here in case anyone has more info.
