Is it able to use jira workflow triggers with Gitlab?

We are considering what git solution to use between Gitlab Premium and Github Enterprise Server.

In the above document, Gitlab is not listed in the supported development tools for jira workflow trigger but Github Enterprise is included. Therefore I wonder if jira workflow trigger works with Gitlab without smart commit.

You can try the Automation for Jira when any pull request is created or merged on Gitlab to transition the issues in Jira as shown below

If that doesn't work, please follow the below document which require external plugin to be installed for the integration
