I'm an Admin but can't archive a ticket. How to?

Yezz A. November 5, 2019

Hi!

I'm a site admin and admin for my product. It's cloud based Jira.

I need to archive tickets from a project (we have over 6k), but I don't see that option when I open the ticket, or when I try to bulk do it.

I couldn't find any documentation on how to get that option to display.

EDIT:

I found this article https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/archiving-an-issue-968669980.html, but when I try to follow the steps, the Archive action is not there. I tried going to Permission Schemes and Issue screens, and I don't see an option to add it. I have no idea how to make the archive action available for my project

Thanks!

Hi @Yezz A. ,

I'm going to assume you mean you have lots of open, non-resolved tickets, that you would like to close (for one reason or another). This would mean changing the resolution field, which can be done as a post-function when you move an issue from one status in a workflow for another.

For example, if you have an issue that was dealt with, you can create a post-function to change the resolution field to "Done" when you move the issue to the "Done" status. Or you if have an issue, say a bug, that can't be reproduced, you could create a post-function to change the resolution field to "Can't be reproduced" when you move the issue to the the status in your workflow you've created for this case.

I don't think you can do a bulk edit without an app.

Hi Laura,

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I mean literally archiving issues. I don't want them shown in my boards or the backlog, but I don't want to delete them for tractability purposes.

I found this article https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/archiving-an-issue-968669980.html, but when I try to follow the steps, the Archive action is not there. The article mentions the functionality is available for Data Center only, and since you're on Cloud, that must be the reason you don't have the option.
