I have created several projects in jira, but unable to change the issues into Epics, stories, tasks

I have looked at creating a custom issue-linking Structure, but when I create a project I have to create all tasks as issues and then change them to epics, bugs stories and link them. Is there an easier way to do this?

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

What types of projects have you created in Jira Cloud? What does it say in the Type column on the "View all projects" page under the Projects menu?

If the issue types (Epic, Story, Bug, Task) are available for the Jira project then you should be able to select them from an available pull-down field when you create a new issue in that project in Jira.

Can you show us what you see when you try to create a new issue?
