I cannot filter swim lanes by users stories for Scrum board.

I work with Scrum boards. I filtered swimlanes to show up User Stories, but even if I choose 'Base Swimlanes on' Stories, user stories do not show up horizontally. They appear in the workflow column instead. 

Where could the root cause be? Where and what should I change? Is it something with workflow or settings?

Configuring your Board Swimlanes to be based on Stories will display Story cards horizontally in the Board view, with all their respective Sub-tasks below it under the column:

That been said, can you please provide us a screenshot displaying how they are currently appearing in your Board?

Additionally, please let us know if that's how you expect the swimlanes to work so we can confirm we are on the same page.

If it's not how you expect, please provide us more details of your need.
