How to show the timing bar in roadmap mode for all issue types ?

When you hover over an Epic line in the roadmap view of a Software project, JIRA automatically creates a timeline bar for you which you can click and then adjust if needed. cf Screenshot :

This only works for Epic and not the other types. Where is that setting enabled ?

With the Standard plan and Basic Roadmaps, timeline bars are supported for only Epics.

If you do not want to try a third party product, you would need to upgrade to the Jira Premium Plan which includes Advanced Roadmaps, where I believe timeline bars are supported for other issue types.

Good morning @TP and welcome to the Atlassian community.

The roadmap view is designed for the epics and it's progress over a period of time. This is because, as per Scrum framework the product owner (business stakeholders) plans for a  release date/ period given the market demand.

As we know the epics has user stories spanned either within a single project team or across project teams. So, epic time line view will be an apt and primary functionality.

And to your query, there are few market place plugins to explore timelines for other issue types. Kindly check for the one as per your organization needs.

With other project template (work management / business project) in timeline you can use bar also for task and sub task (but not for epics, tehy are only in Kanban/Scrum project for development), you can also updgrade your plan to use Advanced Roadmap (better solution)
