How to set default value for a mandatory custom field

I want to set a default value for a mandatory custom field but it is showing as none

To set a default value for a custom field, go to admin settings --> Issues --> Custom field

Search for the field and configure the context. You get option to set a default value for the field.

You can make a custom field mandatory by changing the Field Configuration for the project. Here is more information.
