How to referral user when importing CSV into Jira Cloud

Gabriel Belleboni

Hello,

I'd like some help to know how to referral users when importing a CSV file into Jira Cloud, specially if it would be wether using their e-mail or their Account ID.

Thanks!

Hello @Gabriel Belleboni ,

Welcome to the Community!

Using accountID or Email address is actually very subjective to each organisation and their setup. However, I would prefer to use a valid Account ID from Jira of the user.

My thought behind that is:

In a scenario when the User has setup their profile setup for an email address as Private in that case there is a chance that Import should fail while searching the user with the email address because of restrictions made by the user on their individual profile.

Another problem with email address is email address having special characters, it also cause error during import.

Whilst the User cannot uphold the permission to setup security on fetching AccountID, neither have problems like special characters.

The caveat here is at times Account ID supplied in the CSV is not valid Account ID of Jira cloud.

That can be fetched using rest API: Get User or Bulk get users

I hope it will help you in planning your CSV import.
