How to create an issue in a specific column from the kanban view

Edited
calebdvn I'm New Here Aug 31, 2022

On my tablet, I can easily click "+ Create" at the bottom of any column to create an issue that will appear in that column. However, I can't find a way to easily do that from my desktop web browser.

I understand I can click the blue "Create" button at the top of the page, but this doesn't automatically place the issue in the column I want. Instead, it goes to the backlog.

It would be convenient if the web browser experience allowed issue creation to also be done in the same way that it is implemented on mobile. ie, clicking a field at the top or bottom of the column, and just typing an issue name. Does this  functionality already exist?

Hello @calebdvn

Welcome to the community.

Are you working with a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project?

Atlassian is in the process of rolling out a change to cloud projects that will give you the option to set the status of the new issue within the Create Issue dialog.

It may not yet be available on your instance. It only appeared on mine today but has been rolling out to others for a short time. Refer to
