We need to format one of the fields in template as a table but I can't see how to do this?

This is a really critical feature if you are trying to document structured requirements, e.g. documenting event tracking requirements etc. Free text is no good for this.

I get that you can add tables in to the tickets themselves but that means they need creating each time.

Is adding tables to templates on the backlog?

If not, would you be bale to add it as I think others would find this useful too.

Hello Tom,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Testing on my local site, I wasn't able to add a table to the Description field as default value as well.

Using the shortcut or copying/pasting the table to the default value also doesn't work.

With that said, I created a feature request based on your question:

Please, click on vote and watch to receive updates about the feature.

Regards,
Angélica

Hi @Tom Holt

I found a workaround that might help until atlassian implement the fix, adding the following Table values as a default in any Text area (with wiki rendered) will work after creating the issue

||Table Header 1||Table Header 2||
|Col A1|Col A2|

check the screens for an implemented example:

Does this workaround also work in DataCenter platform?

Hi @Nour Durra Nagarro ,

Could you please help us with the solution steps? It doesn't seem to work with me. What I did so far was...

Created a custom field named 'Table field'. It has following configuration:

tablefield1.png

I then navigated to Field configurations left-panel menu, and searched for Table field field name. Then click on Renderers option at the right end:

tablefield2.png

From that page, I selected Wike Style Renderer

tablefield3.png

But when I create a new issue, the field has this default value:

tablefield4.png

It doesn't appear to be a table grid where users can add text inside the table.

Did I miss something? What was I doing wrong?

Hope you could help.
Thanks.
