How sync the "sub value" of select list cascading with components

I have a custom field of the select list cascading type.

This custom field has values such as value1.subvalue1, value1.subvalue2, value2.subvalue1 and so on.

I'm not going to explain the custom field now.

My help question is if I can capture the "sub value" with automation for jira so that whenever a sub value is changed, it also becomes the name of the component in the issue.

Maybe it can't be done with automation at all and I have to use Script Runner ? For info I am using Jira Service Management Server
