How organize boards by assignee

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Working with boards

with Kanban boards, I was able to configure the board to separate tasks by Assignee. I don't see a way to configure these in the new project boards... Is this possible?

Simple project boards are not as flexible or configurable as Kanban boards.  You can't do the more advanced config on them.

Old question but I came here looking for the answer.

You can use swimlanes to achieve a board that groups by assignee.
