How do I stop Epics being counted in Kanban column issue counts?

Hi community,

I need a little help, I have a Kanban board with "Base SwimLanes on Epics" option and "Column Constraint Issue Count" set. I'm looking for an option to remove epics from the issue count. Currently, I can see all the issues including the epics as shown in the below image.

Please let me know if removing epics from the issue count is a possibility. I'll really appreciate any assistance. Thank you.

Hi @Lipika Bundela,

Try excluding the epics from the board by modifying the Kanban board sub-filter from Board Settings > General tab, as in this example:

Hi @Danut M _StonikByte_

Thank you for the help, this somewhat worked, I could still see some epics when I go to print the agile cards. Any workaround for that?

Thank you

@Lipika Bundela

Unmap any status in your column management. This displays the Backlog view and you can also see the Epics Panel Option. If every status is mapped with respective columns than we cannot see the Epics Panel Option.

Additionally when you try to map the backlog, you will see a dialog box saying the following:

Please let me know if this solved your issue.

@Sanjog Sigdel

I tried moving issues to the backlog and enabled the epic panel, however, the issue count doesn't change. For example, In the "In Progress" lane issue count includes the epics as well. I was wondering if there's an option to exclude epics from the Kanban board.

Hello @Lipika Bundela

Welcome to the Community.

In your Board Settings -> Columns, have you have disabled the Epics Panel, like shown below?

If the Epic Panel is not enabled, it displays every EPIC  in the backlog. Now your Kanban board will have those EPICs and the count also gets affected.:-

Enable Epic Panel. This ignores Epics from backlog and wont included the issues in column count.
