How do I create two different layouts for two different issue types within one project?

I have created two issue types within one Jira project, but I would like them to have different layouts and require different fields. I've already created separate issue type schemes, but am unable to associate two different schemes to the same project for different issue types? Can someone tell me how to do this? thanks

Hi Shelby - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You should create a separate Screen Scheme for each Issue Type. Then update the Issue Type Screen Scheme associated with the project to match the issue types to the screen schemes to be used.

Then within each screen scheme, create screens with the fields you want on them.

If you are looking to make the fields required at create, then create additional Field Configurations for the the different issue types and put them in the Field Configuration Scheme used by the project.

This seems to have worked, thank you!

Welcome to the community @Shelby Rosten

Have you also created separate screens for issue type that would include the create, view and edit screen?
