How do I change the Field configuration of my issue types?

I googled and tried several different solutions via JIRA specific articles but it's still not working.

What does "it's not working" mean?

When you click on actions, you can add more issue-type/field-configuration pairs.

To the right of your screen (chopped off the screenshot), there are options on each line for deleting or changing the association.

So I'm a bit stuck on what is "not working"?
