I created a custom (Number Field) field
Applied various numeric values to the appropriate tickets
When showing as part of a filter, cannot sort this by this field
I get the following error
Field 'cf[10113]' does not support sorting.
I would think sorting by a numeric value would be supported?
First thing, I am just another user and not an employee of Atlassian or a marketplace vendor. With that out of the way...
JQL is not a SQL, and so does not have such features. IMHO it is primarily for returning issues to support the features in Jira, and so has limited other capabilities. To do more, often either marketplace addons are needed or the issues must be exported to another tool for analysis.
There have been several suggestions over the years to improve JQL, although I did not find any specifically for adding sort on number fields. If you want to add a suggestion, please look here to do so: https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa
Kind regards,
Bill
