Creating JIRA Dashboard - Sprint Health Gadget

Natalie Humphreys February 15, 2019

I create a dashboard and am using the Sprint Health Gadget. I see that items within the sprint are moving through the swimlanes and some are even closed, but no progress is being shown on the Sprint Health Gadget, 0% WORK COMPLETE and 0% SCOPE Change when we have had both.

I am wondering if this is because we are using tasks and stories WITHOUT using story points and just using TIME ( in hours).

Can you still show burndown and 0% complete if you are just using time?

Thank you!!

Hi @Natalie Humphreys ,

it doesn't matter how you estimate your tasks.

Health gadget is showing correctly what it should show:

- work complete - when you complete your issues (change the status to done, i.e. the last column on your board)

- scope change - when the issue has been added/removed from the sprint or the estimate changed

On the Health Gadget, how does the numbers of days left compute?   Mine shows grey and 8 days left but my sprint is longer than that.  Thanks

Thank you. I looked and I did have what you suggested!

Take a look at my pictures! You can see that we have burndown but the Healthcheck gadget is not updating! Screen Shot 2019-02-15 at 1.13.43 PM.pngScreen Shot 2019-02-15 at 1.14.04 PM.pngScreen Shot 2019-02-15 at 1.14.09 PM.png

You need to use one measure of effort in order to have reliable results. In the Agile Board, check the configuration of the "Estimation" tab. If you want to use time, set it to "Original time estimate." The board will expect that issues will be estimated and use that to populate burndown information.  Bt default, Agile boards are set to use Story Points as their measure of effort.
