Cannot retrieve Unsaved Changes in Jira Ticket

In the body (description) of a Jira ticket, I made significant changes and foolishly did not save them. I then pressed [ESC] and was taken out of Edit Mode. However, I see the following near the top of the page:

"Description ...Unsaved Changes".

No matter what I did, I couldn't return to EDIT mode. I've experienced this issue before hunted and pecked and eventually the changes reappeared; however, this time, nothing was working.

But then, after I posted this question, I started clicking around the description and - POOF - the unsaved changes returned. I must have clicked on some "sweet spot" on the Description, but have no idea what exactly I did.

Please advise as to what I should do in the future should this issue recur. Thaks.

This is a Bug we are tracking at the following link:

To fix this you should be able to do the following:

1. edit the field copy the text that is present
2. clear all the text from the field
3. save the change with all content cleared
4. edit the field again and paste the text back in removing any the trailing whitespace
5. Save

Check out the video attached to the Bug Report as it shows the behavior including the steps for the workaround.
