Cannot remove start date or due date from an epic in the timeline view

I am in the timeline view.  I right click on one of the timeline "bars" for an epic. I have the options of "Remove start date", "Remove due date", or "Clear both dates".  I can choose any of the options, but the date(s) only are removed for a few seconds. It is as if the change is not saving, and Jira refreshes in the background, and the dates come back.

maybe it justs updates automatically due to the fact that you probably have a child issue with assigned to a sprint or any other dates. This should then lead to an epic being updated. You can then change the dates for the epic but it isn´t possibly to remove it unless you remove the dates from the child issues.

Are you using the Timeline option from the panel on the left when you are viewing an agile board/backlog? Or are you using the Timeline option that is available from an Advanced Roadmaps Plan, accessed from the Plans menu?

Have you looked at the history of the specific Epic you are modifying? Check if it shows the info being removed and then being re-added. It could be that there is an Automation Rule that is re-adding the data.
