Bulk delete issues on Cloud

Alan Kwan December 4, 2020

Hi all,

How do you bulk delete issues (1000+) that were created by accident on Jira Cloud. I am a just a normal user who doesn't have any admin powers but only a board admin.

Thanks.

Run a search for them and then use "bulk edit", in the search result page's option menu.

Note that

  • You need to have bulk-edit permission - it's a global one, your admins will need to grant it to you, and if you don't have it, the option will not appear in the option menu
  • You need permission to delete issues in the prjects you are deleting from.  That's a project permission and you may need to get your self added to roles or groups to get it (Most good admins set up permission schemes that do not allow it to anyone, because delete really means delete and it's a massive pain restoring "accidentally" deleted issues from the previous night's backups)

The bulk selection stuff is not just "the results of this filter" - you can select/deselect from the results before confirming the action.
