Auto-assign on state transition

John Hinnegan July 4, 2012

I'd like to not have to assign tasks before transitioning them from open to in progress (drag from to-do column to in progrss column). Ideally, it would auto-assign to whoever drags it, but I'd also accept just ignoring the assigned field. Or maybe a 1-click assign to me button available from the task board.

Is there a way to bake this into a transition?

This is compounded by the poor experience of changing assignees from the task board. The drop down select doesn't work very well -- you have to select it twice to make a change, and it snaps to top in between selections.

You can modify your workflow to include a post function that will assign the issue to the current user. You might also want to check that the "start progress" transition is available to all.
