Auto Assign with Simplified Workflow

I wonder why the simplified workflow for Agile/Scrum doesn't do auto-assigning of tasks to users when they drag a task to in-progress? Is there a way to change this behavior within the simplified workflow?

poorly I'm not that familiar with cloud configuration but there should be a post function which you can set in your workflow "Create"-transition (Grey circle to Open) to set the assignee as currentUser(). 
On Server there is this post function:

Assign to Current User

Assigns the issue to the current user if the current user has the 'Assignable User' permission.
