As a Jira admin can I have an overview of all users and their working progress?

Valentina Galea December 15, 2021

Is there a possibility to have a dashboard in which i can visualize all users from all projects that are documented in Jira Software scrum ?

Thank you very much for your answers!

Are you using Team Managed projects, Company Managed projects, or both?

Do you have only the Jira Software product or also the Jira Service Management project?

You can create a board from a saved filter that retrieves issues from all projects (or a specific list of projects) on the system. There are caveats:

1. If you don't have permissions to view the data in all projects, then you may encounter problems.

2. If you have Jira Service Management and you don't explicitly constrain the filter to the projects that are not Service Management projects, you may encounter problems.

3. If both Team Managed and Company Managed projects are in use, the board you create will behave like a Company Managed project which is slightly different than the functionality of a Team Managed project board.

Note that Projects are not flagged as Scrum or Kanban. That is a categorization for the boards, and boards are just a way to visualize and manipulate issues in projects. You cannot filter for "all projects that use scrum"

Can you provide more information on the problem you are trying to solve with this activity? Maybe there is an alternate way to achieve your goal.

Sure. Lots of options to solve this kind of thing.

  • Jira Dashboards can show things, dependent on the gadgets that you add to the Dashboard and their configuration.
  • Roadmaps can show information, with drill-down to individual issues and nice roll-up to Epics.
  • Create a Board which does not filter on Project. This works best when the status, workflows, and columns of all the Projects are as similar as possible.
  • Create a Confluence page, which will be dependent on the macros added to the page, and their configuration.
  • Lots of Marketplace apps can show things in various ways. Your specific needs can guide the apps of most interest.

It's hard to give more details ideas and suggestions without more detail about just what you want to see.

Highly recommend that you explore the documentation and features of Jira (and maybe Confluence) to see what built-in features of the product can meet your needs.
