Archiving issues and attachments in Jira Service Desk Cloud Next-gen

Hi!

We just discovered that our current Standard plan for Jira Service Desk Cloud (using next-gen template) has a limit of 250GB for file storage.

I want to check with the rest of you how you manage your file storage to stay under the Standard plan.

Anyone ever tried archiving the resolved / closed issues together with it's attachments?

Thanks in advance!

Pat

Hello @Patricia Campos

Thank you for reaching out!

Here are some good practices applied by Jira users to keep the storage under the available in your current plan:

  1. You can use the backup manager to properly export your issues together with the attachments periodically. You can refer to the documentation below for more details:
How to create a backup for Jira Cloud
How to export attachments from Jira Cloud
P.S: The export file would also include open issues, so you would need to edit the XML file or update it in another Jira site to properly remove the open issues.
  2. For larger files (Videos, high-quality images, etc), you can use external channels (Youtube, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc) to store them and reference their link to the issues in Jira
  3. Additionally to the first suggestion provided, you can configure your backups to be automatically extracted, as described in the documentation below:
How to Automate Backups for JIRA Cloud applications

Additionally, I would like to say that we are not enforcing that 250GB limit on any sites at this moment, although we pretend to do it in the future. That being said, there is nothing to worry about losing data or being prevented to add content without previous notice.

Let us know if you have any questions.
