Add/remove watcher automatically from custom multi-user field

David Choi September 24, 2020

Hi,

I'm trying to create a automation, but I can't get it run properly. I created in a next-gen project a custom people field with multi-user select option.

The automation is triggered when the custom people field is changed.

  1. trigger: custom people field value changed
  2. check with jql if the user is existing in the custom value field
    1. add to watcher list
  3. check with jql if the same user is not existing in the custom value field
    1. remove from watcher list
  4. repeat steps 2 & 3 until all users all checked

This flow seems to not work, because it stops the automation, after it passed the first if condition.

I want to do this because, the next-gen project does not support the option to notify the users from a custom people field.

Thanks!

Hi @David Choi

The automation is stopping in the first step just because you change only one time the custome field.

Can you share a snapshot from your rule?

Hi,

I just tried a different approach, which just add all the new watcher from the custom people field, when a change in the custom people field is triggered.

This should work I guess.
