API Token as a Jira user that is a Distribution List

JD Lobue

Want to use a Jira user which is a Distribution List to create an API Token. Can this be done? If so, how can we get access to the user creds? If not, how can we accomplish what we need?

Thanks

You should not have users that are distribution lists for anything other than notifications, they should never be used for making changes within Jira.

You will find you can't make API tokens for them because you need to log in as them to get one, and you shouldn't be able to log in with a distribution list.
