Hi Sonu - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Unless you are using a third party vendor app such as Revyz Data Manager for Jira, I am afraid it is just gone. You could restore your whole instance from a backup, but that would overwrite everything you have done since the delete happened.

So, two things. 1. Do not allow deletes!! Change the permission for Delete Issues for ALL of your Permission Schemes - even defaults. Leave with just the Jira admins group, if even that.

Next, get an app from the Atlassian Marketplace (like Revyz above) that allows for granular restore of issues and projects.

Hi @Sonu Kumar

Jira doesn't provide something like a recycling bin, so when deleted, it's entirely gone.

That's why it's frequently suggested that access to delete issues be granted only to the admin.

If you want to track and restore issues in the future, here are possible workarounds:

Hi @Sonu Kumar

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

By default, Jira does not track deleted issues and deleted issues are lost forever. To prevent it happening again, you can try Restore Deleted Issues app developed by our team. In order for this app to work, the app must have been installed before the issue is deleted.

After you install this app,

  • Both bulk and single issue deletions are logged.
  • You can see when and by whom issues are deleted.
  • You can recover summary, description, comments except attachments.

If you just want to track but not restore the deleted issues, you can use Track Deleted Issues app. After you installed this app, it provides audit log for deleted issues (both bulk and single issue deletions) and you can see when and by whom issues are deleted.

Below you can find an article about tracking and restoring deleted issues in Jira.

Hope it helps.

Best practice, ensure that the "delete" privilege is only with selected or with no-one, if you want to save from such instances in future.

Hello @Sonu Kumar  and Welcome to the Atlassian community!

Unfortunately, if you didn't have a backup, your story had gone. To make sure that your Jira data is recoverable it's worth having a backup copy. Here you have a few options - manually export your data to your local machine (here is Atlassian documentation on this topic: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/export-issues/ ) and then restore the entire copy or use third-party backup software, like GitProtect backup and Disaster Recovery software, and in case of such deletions restore your data granularly.

On the other hand, if you haven't deleted the story yet moved your story to trash, as an Admin, you can try to restore it from there. In this case, this article can be helpful: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/trash-and-restore-a-project/ . In this case, the retention period is 60 day, so after that time your data will be permanently deleted.

Kind regards,

Daria

@Sonu Kumar ,

Welcome to the community! Unfortunately, there is no way to restore an "Only" selected issue/s.   The only way an issue can be restored is via the instance backup restore.

NOTE: It is technically restoring to a previous state when the backup was taken, I would not suggest this.

I would rather suggest creating/importing the issue again. If that was already worked upon please check if the information can be updated manually.
