Hi Community!

It’s Shaun with the Jira Service Management team inviting you to ask us anything about moving your IT Operations work from Opsgenie into Jira Service Management. We’ll answer your questions LIVE at 11 am PST / 2 pm EST on August 8th, 2024. Register here.

In June, Jira Service Management Cloud customers gained access to the new streamlined incident UI. All operations work (alerting, on-call, incident response, etc) can now be completed inside the JSM UI so teams can promptly address, investigate, and resolve alerts and incidents more efficiently.

Feel free to ask about:

  • Our vision and roadmap for IT Operations on the Atlassian platform

  • How to move your existing data and configurations from your bundled Opsgenie instance into your Jira Service Management site

  • And anything else you can think of!

Don’t wait for Aug 8th, ask your questions in the comments below. I will make sure to answer them here and also cover the answers in the AMA on Aug 8th.

Cheers!

I read that some things may need to be done manually. Can you elaborate on what will not be automatically ported? Will there be any downtime? How can we test everything prior to making the cutover? As this is our production on-call I want to protect us from any interference.

We are a newer JSM customer as of late last year so we decided to wait until the integration happened in our production instance before we started configuring anything for Operations. Would this AMA session have value for us since we don't have anything in OpsGenie to be migrated into JSM Operations?

Hi @Rick Westbrock Welcome to JSM! Yes this session would still be valuable to you. We'll cover the logistics of moving over, but we will also cover the benefits of the new streamlined incident UI in JSM - and I think you might find this helpful and it could also surface your own questions that can be answered during the AMA as you look to get started with ops work in JSM

We have started the migration. How do our operations team see contact details for the on call rotas. In the Opsgenie interface all the mobile numbers were shown. In this new JSM interface we cannot find any phone numbers which means our team will have to continue to use the old interface.
Additionally the activity stream (team level) feature in opgenie doesn't seem to be there any more?

When will these features be available in JSM for sites which had already started using Opsgenie?

Hi @Andrew Culver  Navigate to Settings--> Products--> and look at Operations under the Jira Service Management heading

It looks similar to this screenshot:

Hi @Shaun Pinney

This is what we see:

We don't need a tool to migrate our Opsgenie configurations. We'd be fine recreating everything we had done, as we'd only just started to explore Opsgenie. But since we had used Opsgenie, it seems that we're stuck until a migration tool is available.

Hello,
I see that there is a new project now with all the migrated incidents and schedules and such. Is there a way to move schedules to other projects we want or they need to stay there?
Since rights were not migrated automatically i have to go and redo the rights for each person on that new project created.

Is there another day or timeslot for this topic?

It doesn't look like clickable URL links work anymore - is there something that needs to be configured to make this work?

Can you post the recording of this please?

@Mario Licup

Hi! I am on the Community team (not the JSM team) so I am limited in my ability to answer as I don't officially decide what topics get an AMA - or in this case a second AMA.

To my knowledge there is not another AMA scheduled for this topic, but I can raise that with the team. In the meantime, I just uploaded the recording to the top of this post. Check it out!

We are one of those organisations that is a bit reluctant to move forward with the OG-JSM move activation, until the 'Ops Admin' role has been implemented into Jira that was mentioned on the AMA.

@Shaun Pinney and the JSM product team, are you able to give us the current timeline that we can expect that feature?

Many thanks

@Matt Lane Hi, I expect the Ops Admin role to be available by end of Nov, or early Dec. Watch for Community posts, emails, and other channels announcing when it is officially available, we are planning them now.
