bitbucket and jira are linked, but issues are not synched

I already have Bitbucket and JIRA linked from a previous project. Now I created a new project and repo in Bitbucket and added some issues in BitBucket, but those issues are created in the 'simple' Bitbucket issue tracker instead of automatically created in Jira.

Am I doing something wrong?

out-of the box there is no any sync without JIRA issue tracker and bitbucket. Integration is for development tools only
