Unable to add incoming mail server via IMAP with Google for business

I am trying to add an IMAP server through a google business account and when I test the connection I get the error:

Unfortunately no connection was possible. Review the errors below and rectify:

I go to the page and I am referred to having two step verification enabled and I do not have this enabled. Also I am unable to get a app password due to the fact that I do not have this enabled. I have also tried changing my password thinking that the 8 character strength of the password was not good enough so I went to 11 characters. Thank you for the help.

Allow access to less secure apps. The default value is set to "OFF". You have to change it to "ON". More details can be found here

How does one get support for the JIRA product? This board does not seem to be the way to do so.
