My question can I additional workflow for the new board without doing conflict with the existing one until i make sure everything is perfect then I will disable the old board and workflow and keep the new one active.

your help would be highly appreciated. thanks a lot.

Hi @Qais Alkhatib,

you can perfectly create a new board in order to play around and come up with your new structure. However, it is not that easy to try out new workflows. Workflows are tied to the issues based on their issuetype and the project they belong to.

In order to try out your new setup, I'd recommend that you create a test project, associate it with a copy of your workflow. Then you can adjust your workflow and your board there.

After you're done with your setup, you could change the board configuration so that it matches your real project and change the workflow of your real project to this one.

Cheers,
Matthias.

If your board is for the same project and issue type combination - you won't be able to separate the processes. However, if you want to "test" this first you can create a new project with the same issue type scheme as the old one and there assign a new workflow scheme.

Remember that a board is just a visual representation of the projects and issue types you choose to show in it. So I would suggest the above solution as it would also make your life easier for "hiding" the old tickets from the old board and showing only the "new" tickets on the new board. You only add a something like the section below to your board filter:

project = "NEWPROJECT"

thank you Peter, I agree with you, having a test project would be better. I will give it a try, thanks a lot.
