How do I hide or restrict the use of the comment field?

I want to be able to either completely remove the comment field or restrict users from using it. Is this possible?

Sure, update the permission scheme so that nobody has permissions on comments.

You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
