Do nested versions exist in Jira, i.e. a version composed of other versions?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Locate Version Hierarchy in JIRA Database

It seems like this functionality existed at some point but was removed?

A long time ago, there was a move to do some version heirarchy, but I think it was dropped when Greenhopper was widely adopted (that became Agile and is now Software)

Thanks @Nic Brough [Adaptavist], I presumed as much, seems like useful functionality to lose though.
