XRAY- Link defect directly with main US instead of Test execution only.

Hello Team,

When we are creating the "Defect" during Test execution, we have to fill all the common fields manually again and again. Is it possible to link defect directly with "US" (which is linked to the "Test" which we are executing) thus helping us providing an automation.

Also can you guide us, what automation can be used here??

Thanks in advance,
Sneha

@Sneha Kumari

I'm not too familiar with the inner workings but as long as the Defect or Use-Story is an issue Automation should be able to fill in fields for you - either hard coded or copied from another linked issue.

Typically the rule would look like:

  • On Defect create
  • <Some condition>
  • Edit issue action
    • Set a field to a value
    • Copy a field from the parent

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
