Story points

If we use the Epic->Story->Task model and if a Story is delivered across multiple sprints/milestones, would Jira NOT report the completed story points against each of the tasks (for the Story) in the Sprint burndown? I am told that it does not do so, hence most people only use the Epic->Story model (not using tasks).

Is this correct?

It really depends on your configuration, but it might.  I'd suggest testing in your environment.  In my previous org (we have Greenhopper now), we had to manually track to avoid double counting  velocity.
