How to give read only access in a particular project for a shared team?

We have our Shared team members who want access to view one of the projects. We can able to add the team but it is giving all the functions such as modify, delete.., like other common users in the board.
We want to give access only to view our Jira project i.e.., Read-only.
What is the procedure to be followed?
I have tried adding members by following these steps https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiraportfolioserver/managing-shared-teams-in-portfolio-974360272.html .
Is it that after adding only we can give Read-only access?
