Hello, I'm not a Jira administrator but I lead a project. My team started using Jira Epics and when a new Epic is created it is in workflow state IDEA. This is how all new issues start out, and then we transition issues to READY. When I try to transition the Epic to READY Jira fails with message "Transition failed Please assign an epic" This doesn't make sense to me.

Could you have "epic link" as a mandatory field on the READY transition? If so, you may need a separate workflow for epics without this mandatory field require on transition.
