Applying data center license to jira core?

We're preparing to migrate JIRA Core to Data Center by end of year.
We've purchased the data center license, but experienced a problem when applying the licenses.

Has anyone experienced troubles when applying data center licenses to jira core?

Hi @janenehoffmann

Are you getting an error like in this attached page? If so this workaround may work for Core like it does for Service Desk

Best,
Clark

We didn't get that error message.  Actually when we applied the plugins for data center THEN applied the license to core it brought the system down, no information as to why in the log files.

Once we restored the server and tried again by applying the licenses, it seemed to work.  The following steps are our plans for applying production licenses:

  1. Please be make sure installation(/opt/atlassian/*) and home directory(/data/atlassian/* & /data/jira/*) should backup on linux server
  2. Database need to schedule backup before this change on production especially
  3. Once the backup completed apply the JIRA Software Data Center license first it will get a note on Jira Core license will be replaced and including in the Software package accept this note.
  4. Hint on In-compatible plugins accept that hint and move forward.
  5. Once Jira Software Data Center license installed update all plugin licenses and upgrade to the data center version.
  6. After Jira Software Data Center license and plugin licenses applied please do a Jira restart disable reindex script(catalina-reindex.sh & catalina-disaster-recovery.sh)

We were pretty dismayed when we brought a system down simply by applying licenses.  Thankfully this happened on one of our test environments.  The above steps are what we are using to prepare for production this weekend.  (we're taking precautions as this instance of JIRA is critical to the business)

I'm curious if this situation is more prevalent among the community?
Perhaps I'm missing where the information is for installing data center over jira core, but it would be nice to find such a resource.  Also to share our experience so nobody has to recover a system unnecessarily as we've had to.

Thoughts on this are appreciated.  Thank you in advance!
