Accessing jira ssl site using an alias

I have our jira test environment created by name What do we need to do in order for accessing the link by just typing testingjira and it should forward it to

So you want to be able to have a short alias from your domain joined computers to immediately go to the external url?

The easiest way would be to have your system administrator set up a dns alias. As your computers would first check your local DNS server they would just get forwarded to the correct url. 

I believe the correct name might even be a CNAME record.

For non domain joined workstations that don't use your local dns server it's ofcourse not possible as your shortname is not a FQDN.
