@Gaurav Kataria .. that's great. Can you please clarify what the team are doing about ALL the other issues around the new layout that are causing issues - -The floating Menu lsland -The New Card Layout -The burying of top level card actions inside the island menu -Button automations removed ffrom the cards themselves -The comments section on the right - The utter lack of transparecy about ANY of these design choices - The VERY obvious push back and dissatisfaction of your users
ugh. In addition to the back cover nightmare/comments section being moved, I just realized that our automation buttons are missing. This just isn't sustainable. I'm going to have to look for a new pm software I guess.
Does anyone else here have experience with ClickUp?
@Sandy Hubbard The middle button on the bottom floaty menu on the card hides card automation buttons. The board buttons appear but icons on only in top right on the board, loading after every single other thing, so if your board is slow to load, they may seem like they never appear.
@Gaurav Kataria It would be really great if Atlassian could actually allow us the option of reverting to the "classic" view. There are a number of changes, including this one, that are really inconvenient to downright disruptive in the workflow. My wrist already hurts from how many times a day I have to move the cursor to the right of the card to enter comments instead of just scrolling down. And not having the automation buttons immediately available really kills the purpose of having the automation set up.
@Sandy Hubbard this right here! It's why I keep calling out the lack of inclusivity with their 'update'. No one should be experiencing actual physical discomfort from a platform. And now we have three scroll-bars instead of two like before (at least with me.) One for our browser, one for the card, and now a third for the side comments. This thing is going to trigger my motion sickness again!

@Sandy Hubbard Thanks for letting us know about your experiences. If you do decide to look for other tools, I wanted to mention that the Jira team has been working with us to make it easier to move your project-management work from Trello to Jira. We've posted a brief guide on that kind of migration, and we'd also be happy to help you make the move.
If you're interested in considering Jira for project management, I'd recommend getting in touch with the Jira sales team. Feel free to mention my name to them when you do. I work on Trello, and don't work in sales, but I'd be interested in hearing more about how we can help.
@Devan Goldstein With all due respect, if Atlassian isn't mindful about the UIX comments about this Trello update, I'm not sure why I might think they would for future Jira updates. Thanks for your suggestion though and for the migration link--perhaps others here might also find that useful.
@Devan Goldstein That this update was intended to make people not want to use Trello any more and instead move to Jira has already been explicitly stated by your colleagues earlier in the thread.
But what seems to have been missed by everyone at Atlassian is that no one is going to trust you to run and maintain another product when you're trashing this one and using such a coercive and disruptive tactic to uproot current Trello users. And, importantly, if you need to trash Trello to get people to use Jira, Jira obviously isn't very good.
If people wanted to use Jira, they would be using Jira. They have looked at the features and the pricing, and decided that Trello is what best serves their needs. That decision isn't going to turn in Jira's favour just because the people who run Jira make sure Trello doesn't exist any more. Those users are going to look for a replacement for what they get from Trello and couldn't get from Jira instead.
If you want more people to use Jira, the solution is making Jira better, not making Trello worse. When is it going to sink in to the tech bro community that coercion is ugly and a deeply flawed way to think about problems, products, services, and life?
Very thankful to have the sidebar back.. however, there are still some features I am concerned about... I was looking into adding buttons/integrations but now I'm not sure it's worth the battle and better to find a new project management tool if this platform is no longer catering to project management for businesses? I have seen Jira suggested but would rather move to Notion or Monday.com if Trello is no longer a good fit for project management.
The new card view kind of feels like we used to be able to have a full view of a landscape, but now we have to look at it through binoculars and can't see the full picture anymore. At the very least, is there a way to unstick the cover so it takes up less of the screen?
@Brynn Harrington Amen to this! I used to always have card covers because I'd include enough attachments I wanted something super easy and communicative on top for my devs to see at a glance what was wrong. Now, I remove all covers so I can actually have enough screen to type or read the description in!
Why do you have need to simplify things that DON'T need to be simple? Users don't use Trello because of the need to organize a few simple things, if that were the case, we wouldn't need you in the first place! The new look is garbage that doesn't serve the purpose. This is a joke! Is there any way to revert to the legacy view? And it runs 10x worse. Why?! I think I'll be looking for alternatives... 👎
I like to use Trello with keyboard only, where possible. A lot of opening and closing cards, viewing the contents etc could be done without touching the mouse.
Just reaslised that with the new update, one cannot use up and down keys to scroll through the comments any more, it just scrolls the modal up and down in the page :-(
We don’t want this stupid update. It’s the worst thing ever. We are actively seeking another solution for Trello. Now this is the worst decision your company has ever made.
I'm now convinced all the atlassian users in this thread are bots. We can't get any sort of thoughtful and explanatory communication out of them. They're useless.
I HATE the new interface!!! I can't find diddly squat anymore. This is super frustrating!! I don't like the "simplified," aka less useful interface for the cards. I'm searching madly for my starred boards. How do I open things on the side? This SUCKS!
Why couldn't you work on the multitude of wishlist items that would've been features that we have asked for instead of messing up the interface?
To all who are looking for a new Kanban board-based PM solution, can you please identify here what you are looking at? I'd be interested in your possible solutions (excepting Jira, which we'll not move to). Thanks!
@Sandy Hubbard I work for a university and they offer Planner. It is the most likely option for me to switch to. That said, when I was looking before purchasing a Trello license, I considered ClickUp, TeamGantt, and Asana. Other options would include Monday.com, Wrike, and apparently even Miro.
